General Guidelines;

Once all  documents are compiled they are to be submitted to the “Office of the Study Abroad JGBS (OSAJ)” through your programme director (documents to be mailed as a zip file to igbsiep@jgu.edu.in).

Application Process:

Bachelor’s programmes & Academic Requirements: To be admitted to one of the bachelor programmes you have to meet certain admission requirements. NHL Stenden University of Applied Sciences recognizes the following general international qualifications:  

  • International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma or European Baccalaureate Diploma.

  • High School diploma or graduation statement (see below) from an accredited institution.

  • Four GCSE/GCE ‘O’ level passes (final grade A, B or C) and two ‘AS’ level passes. These six passes combined must all be in different subjects.

  • Associate, bachelor or master degree.

Furthermore, some of our bachelor programmes demand additional entry requirements. The additional entry requirements can be found in the list of admissible diplomas. If your diploma is not mentioned in this list, please contact our Information and Registration Center through your JGBS study Abroad office.

  

Language Requirements: All non-EER applicants are required to submit an English proficiency test with their application. Exceptions are made for students, who have had their preparatory education in a country where English is the official working and educational language. The language requirements for EER students are the same as for Dutch students. If your diploma is mentioned in this list, the additional English language test is not required.NHL Stenden University of Applied Sciences accepts three kinds of official language tests: IELTS, TOEFL and the Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English.

  • Academic IELTS 6.0 (with a minimum of 5.0 for each skill).

  • TOEFL 550 (paper based), 213 (computer-based) and 80 (internet based). Original test results must be sent directly from the Educational Testing Service to NHL Stenden. The TOEFL institution code for NHL Stenden is 9215.

  • Cambridge ESOL score FCE-C (169, or higher).

21+Test: If you are aged 21 or older and would like to enroll at NHL Stenden University of Applied Sciences but do not currently meet the admission requirements, you are invited to register for the entrance examination (known in the Netherlands as Colloquium Doctum). 

  • Registration fee: €95, use the Direct Debit Form.

Three Year Track bachelor programmes (3 years): Students with an appropriate high school level diploma (entry level for academic universities) might be eligible to follow a Three Year Track Programme. The study programmes that offer this option are the following:

Three GCSE/GCE ‘O’ level passes (final grade A, B or C) plus three ‘A’ level passes are required to apply for these programmes. These six passes combined must all be in different subjects. Please check the programme pages for the respective additional admission requirements.

Pre Master Programme: To get access to the Pre Master Programme students will need:

  • A bachelor degree, preferably in hospitality, tourism, business or economics;

  • An IELTS score of at least 5.5 (with a minimum of only one sub score of 5.0) or TOEFL scores of 525 (paper based), 196 (computer based) or 70 (internet based); to take part in an intake interview.

Master's programmes & Academic Requirements: You require a Bachelor’s degree to be admitted to the International Hospitality and Service Management programme. If you do not hold a Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Business, Management, Hospitality, Tourism, Leisure Studies or a related course but would like to enroll in the Master’s programme in Service Management, please send an email to jgbsiep@jgu.edu.in. Your application will be assessed on individual merits. A personal interview is part of the application process.

Please note: If you do not have the appropriate level, it is possible to enroll in our English Preparatory Course. 

You can apply through Studielink, the application and enrolment portal provided by the Netherlands Ministry of Education. Complete the following steps:

  • Go to Studielink.

  • Log in to your account or create an account if you currently do not have one. You will have access to your own personal Studielink page.

  • Click on 'Add previous education' (if you haven't already done that) and add the previous education that provides admission to the study programme that you wish to follow.

  • Click on 'Add new enrolment' or 'Enrolment application'.

  • Select your preferred course and confirm your choice. Select:
    MA & MSc – dual degree, or the MA – single degree

  • Enter the starting month in which you would like to start your programme.

  • Next, confirm your starting date.

  • Answer the study programme-specific questions.

  • Tick the confirmation box and confirm your application.

  • Enter your payment details for payment of the tuition fees, and confirm again. If you prefer, you can enter this information at a later date, provided you do so before enrolment.

  • You can track the status of your application on your personal Studielink page.

Once NHL Stenden has received your application, you will receive a message from Studielink confirming the following information:

  • The NHL Stenden course(s) for which you have applied.

  • The admission interview or selection process (if applicable).

  • Any other information you may be required to provide.

  

Submit application documents:

A few days after you submit your application, you will receive an email request from the International Office to submit your application documents via an online portal. In this email, you will find the login data for the online portal and a list of documents to be submitted.

  

Graduation statement:

Did you graduate, but will you not receive your actual diploma before the application deadline? Then you may submit a graduation statement instead, accompanied by your most recent grade sheet. Once you have graduated, you will still have to send in a certified copy of your diploma if you were admitted based on a certified graduation statement. 

If applicable to your situation, please fill in the document and have your high school or university sign and stamp it. Then, upload a copy or scan of this document to the online portal. Comparable documents issued by your high school or university are also accepted. 

 

Admission requirements check:

Once we have received all the required documents from you, we will verify that you meet all the admission requirements. We will notify you if we find that you still need to take an English-language proficiency test or send any additional documents. You can trace the application status via the online portal.

 

Letter of Admission

Once you have sent us all the required document and we have established that you satisfy all the admission requirements, we will send you a formal letter of admission confirming that you have been accepted as a student at our institution. Along with this admission letter, you will receive practical information about accommodation and tuition fees.

Once we have received your payment and have verified that you meet the visa requirements, we will apply for a student visa on your behalf. After approximately four weeks, you will receive a notification that you can collect your visa from the Netherlands Embassy or Consulate in your country. For additional information about applying for a student visa, please visit the website of the Netherlands Organization for International Cooperation in Higher Education (Nuffic).

Proof of sufficient financial means (non-EU students)

As a student from outside the European Union, you are obliged to provide NHL Stenden with proof that you will be able to finance your stay in the Netherlands.

You may do so in one of the following two ways: A money transfers of € 10.750 to NHL Stenden's bank account, which will be refunded upon your arrival after you have opened a Dutch bank account. Proof of a scholarship amounting to at least € 10.750.
